MS Build 2025: my top 5

Hereโ€™s my TOP items from this yearโ€™s Build from the front lines:

๐ŸŽค The keynote by Microsoftโ€™s CEO was inspiring โ€” a bold vision for the future of AI, developers, and the agentic era.

https://youtu.be/0kyZkPW7XIY?si=a6ti5VmlbrOc53FJ

๐Ÿ’ก The Hub area was an amazing space to learn, share, and connect with Microsoft PMs/Engineers, Microsoft Partners, and customers.

๐Ÿงช The Labs were another highlight โ€” hands-on, interactive, and packed with learning across multiple topics.

โœจ A few more gems I loved diving into:

๐Ÿ”ฅ 1. GitHub Copilot:
Microsoft Copilot can writes features, fixes bugs, and improves your source code while you sleep. GitHub Copilot drafting pull requests โ€” smart, contextual, and time-saving. Copilot isnโ€™t just a helper anymore โ€” itโ€™s a teammate.

๐Ÿ› ๏ธย  2. SRE Agent and Agentic DevOps & Beyondย โ€” automating reliability like never before.
The SRE Agent is now in public preview! Learn how to use natural language to describe intent, which is then translated by the AI agent into a series of tasks that the agent can execute with developer approval. It iterates through target applications and carries out the requested task(s), all without the need for developers to remember myriad CLI commands and syntaxes.

๐Ÿ’พ  3. Storage Actions: Data + AI โ€” bridging infrastructure and intelligence.
Azure Storage Actions is a serverless framework that you can use to perform common data operations on millions of objects across multiple storage accounts. The current release of Azure Storage Actions enables you to create storage tasks that can perform operations on blobs in Azure Storage accounts based on a set of conditions that you define.

๐Ÿญ  4. Azure AI Foundry โ€“ The Agent Factory + Foundry Local
Foundry gives you everything to design, test, and ship agents.
Foundry Local lets you run agents securely on Windows/macOS โ€” offline, fast, and dev-friendly.

๐ŸŒ  5. MCP โ€“ Model Context Protocol
MCP is the glue of the agentic web โ€” if youโ€™re building apps in 2025, you need to be thinking about it.

๐ŸŒง๏ธโ˜• Seattle gave us rain, coffee, and a whole lot of developer energy.

๐Ÿ“ Canโ€™t wait to share what Iโ€™ve learned with my client and our Metro Toronto Azure Community โ€” and Iโ€™m already looking forward to #MSIgnite later this year in San Francisco!

Toronto Azure Community AI summer Resource: Azure OpenAI Scenarios & GitHub Copilot in Visual Studio and VS Code

We had an incredible start to the user group season with a packed house at our first Metro Toronto Azure Community event.

Held at the Microsoft hashtag#Canada HQ, the evening was nothing short of remarkable, featuring three dynamic and stimulating presentations. Our first speaker, Keyur Patel, enthralled the audience with his insights on Azure OpenAI Scenarios & Solutions. He was followed by Venu Amancha, who provided an enlightening discourse on Building & Hydrating Enterprise Datalake using Gen AI.

I also had the privilege of sharing my personal experience in a real-world project, developing a retail system with GitHub Copilot and Visual Studio.

๐ŸŽ‰ What a fantastic day we’ve had at the Global Azure Bootcamp 2024 – Toronto edition!
Hosted at the Microsoft Canada HQ, the event was a roaring success with 15 enlightening presentations from speakers who, collectively, hold over 300 years of experience.

This event truly embodied our mantra: “From the community, for the community.”

๐ŸŽ‚ Coincidentally, we also celebrated Microsoft’s 49th birthday in April and our own Toronto Azure Community’s 20th anniversary. Milestones like these make the journey all the more memorable!

๐Ÿ™ A massive thank you to Microsoft and Centrilogic (Jeff Zado Denise Faustino Vineet Sharma Erin Scott John Lily) for sponsoring this community event. Your support plays a vital role in making these events possible.

๐Ÿ‘ A round of applause for our speakers: Max Yermakhanov, Eli Robillard, Ricardo Covo, Hisham Qaddoumi, Ashraf Ghonaim ๐Ÿ, Krishna Venkataraman, Alex Rostan, Alex Pshul, Tamir Al Balkhi, Pooyan Fekrati, Roy Kim, Rishab Kumar Callon Campbell Nehal Bhandari . Toronto AI Meetup Presentation Resource: Application Landing Zone for Azure Open AI

It was a wonderful experience sharing insights on Azure Open AI Application Landing Zone and architecture patterns for deploying Azure Open AI using Azure API management at the Toronto AI meetup earlier this week. We conducted a thorough review of all deployment patterns aligned with Azure’s Well Architected Framework WAF, and detailed a specific use case for implementing a charge-back model, logging, and security for enterprise-grade deployment.

Will publish the resource soon.
